Sports Days photos

A number of sports days were held in the month of August, either side of World War One, in New Road (latterly Hillfield Road). The events were often followed by a concert and tea. The Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria in 1897 was celebrated with fireworks, tea and a sports day. The sports day events were later replaced by an annual carnival in August.
