Boxing photos

Boxing was a popular sport for boys and young men in Selsey. “Bombardier” Billy Wells (British heavyweight champion) used Selsey as the location of his training camp in 1913. Eddie Steele (British heavyweight champion) appeared in an exhibition sparring match at the Selsey Pavilion in 1937. Amateur boxing took place at East Street School and in the Selsey Pavilion.
